Mimi's 21-Day Spring Cleaning Detox is here!

You may be asking... Why should I do a detox?

Our bodies are constantly exposed to toxins of all kinds from all directions, from the water we drink to the air we breathe. Over time these toxins get stored in the tissues and lead to toxic overload, making it difficult to ease otherwise minor health issues. Although our bodies are equipped with the natural ability to detox, the burden of our current environment makes this process more difficult for our bodies to do alone. A detox can be super effective in assisting the body in pushing things through and out!

How can a detox help?
  • Although this is not a weight-loss program, a detox can be a great launching pad for creating a new and healthier lifestyle to support your weight loss goals
  • Boost energy, vitality, clarity of mind -- get rid of those afternoon slumps!
  • Improve digestion and eliminate bloating
  • Improve sleep patterns
  • Eliminate sugar cravings
  • Put you on the path to better self-care practices making your life healthier & happier all around!

Why should I choose THIS detox?

Because I have done the research and experienced the program myself multiple times. This proprietary detoxification kit is a unique and advanced combination of nutrients, antioxidants, fiber, fruit and vegetable extracts, and pure herbs that support the overall metabolic detoxification process while balancing Phase I and Phase II detoxification pathways. Plus, you get my one on one support the whole way!

Rising Woman~ Lisa Simchison

This Rising Woman is just so inspiring to me! I have never met Lisa in person, but together we used to be part of the Sweaty Betties with Danny-J. Seems so long ago! Lisa, I have absolutely loved watching you blossom over the past few years. You are such a bright light and I am honored to share your story here... xoxo

Who are you and what do you do for a living?
I am Lisa Simchison - I'm a 30-something mom, wife (married to my high school sweetheart!), a yoga teacher, a hypnotist, a nature lover, a seeker, a writer and so many other things! I spend my time helping women re-learn how to love themselves - exactly as they are. I use yoga, meditation, journalling and hypnosis to guide my clients back to themselves and to a place where they can finally stop living in the shadows, watching life from the sidelines and start living and LOVING their lives again!!

Tell me about your family, if applicable.

I have the most amazing little family! I married my highschool sweetheart almost 15 years ago and we have spent that time learning and growing together. He is the most supportive partner and manages to make me laugh every single day! We have two incredible daughters - Emma is almost 13 and Maddy is almost 11 - they are the best thing that has ever happened to both myself and my husband! Emma is strong and determined and questions everything - she is the kind of badass that I hope to be one day! Maddy is kind and sweet with a compassionate heart - she is someone you just want to be around!

What is your story?

I have battled self hatred and disordered body image for all of my adult life - I lived on the yo-yo diet roller-coaster - trying every single diet known to man. About 5 years ago I found myself over exercised, under-fed and miserable and exhausted...I couldn't do it anymore. I heard my daughter, Emma tell my husband "Mom doesn't eat ice cream" when he asked to see if I wanted to join them for an outing to the ice cream store...that was it for me. I was devastated. I knew that I was hurting myself with my disordered eating and exercising but I thought I was hiding it from my family...I wasn't. That is when I made the commitment to love and accept myself! It wasn't easy though, I struggled for years with those old habits and thought patterns. I had to remind myself daily that I was worthy of my own love - exactly as I was. During that time I found out that I had given myself adrenal fatigue from over exercising and under eating. That caused me to gain weight - the very thing I had worked so hard to avoid - and I gained a lot of weight about 45lbs in two years. That was the biggest lesson I had in self acceptance and self love - there was nothing I could to stop the weight gain - and essentially, I had caused it myself. I spent the next two years flip floping from self hate to self love - but I kept doing the work (yoga, meditation, hypnosis and journalling) and the days of self hate became fewer and farther between until more days than not, I truly loved myself. After two years of doing the work and learning and trying and growing, I started to implement these lessons in my yoga teaching and in the last two years my focus has shifted to coaching other women to self love.

What have you overcome to get where you are today?
I have overcome a lifetime of negative beliefs that were planted in me. I have overcome negative body image and self hatred. I have overcome a deeply rooted belief that I was unlovable - and that no matter what I do I am not good enough. Overcoming those things and being where I am now - where I seriously love every single inch of my body and every aspect of myself - even the imperfect things and shadows - has been the biggest struggle and the biggest success of my entire life.

What has been your greatest struggle in life?
My greatest struggle in my life has been self love and acceptance - it was so ingrained in me to hate myself and to want to change (how could anyone love me if I wasn't thin?). I spent two decades at war with my body and I have spent hundreds and hundreds dollars trying to "fix" my body. It has been my hero's journey for me to overcome this struggle and get to the place where I can wear a bikini on the beach and jump in the water with my kids and to help other women get to that place too!

Did you ever feel like giving up? When you felt like giving up, what did you do?
I felt like giving up every day - it is so hard to go against everything you know. All I "knew" was that I was supposed to be thin - and it didn't matter what it took - I believed that I would never love myself unless I was thin. On the days when I felt like giving up and going back to my old ways of restrictive dieting, I would look at my girls - they were the motivation I needed to keep going. I didn't want them to see me living a half life and always worried about my weight - I knew that if they saw me doing that then they would most likely fall into that trap too. Ont he hard days when I wanted to quit and loving myself was too much work I would get on my yoga mat or go outside - those things helped me get back into my body - to really FEEL it - instead of thinking with my brain, I could feel with my heart and with my body. That always helped me stop the negative thought trains, in fact, it still does.

What are some of the tools and resources you have used to work through and overcome those struggles? (books, counselors, workshops, programs, coaches, etc.)
I have used many tools over the course of the last few years but the ones that stand out are the following: Hypnosis, The Desire Map book by Danielle Laporte, The Handel Method, Blocked 2 Blissed with Bexlife, The Art of Attention by Elena Brower, The White Hot Truth by Danielle Laporte, Awaken your Abundance with Tani Morgan, and a huge variety of meditations and yoga classes.

What are your gifts and how did you discover them?
I am a teacher. I have always known this, but it wasn't until I found yoga that I truly discovered my voice. As soon as I started teaching yoga I found a part of myself that I didn't know existed - I was confident, calm, and at ease in front of the class. I have spent the last 10 years teaching yoga and learning as much as I can about yoga and wellness and now I use my skills as a yoga teacher to coach women 1:1 and in small groups. I am also wildly creative - I love to sing, paint, write, take photos and crochet - I was this way as a child but somewhere along the way I lost the nerve to be creative. In the last two years I have rediscovered the love I have for all things creative and in the process I have found that I am actually pretty good at most things creative!

Who in life do you rely on when you're struggling? Who keeps you uplifted and on your path?
I rely on my husband - he is my anchor. I am a wonderer and I spend a lot of time with my head in the clouds - and he helps keep me grounded. I also rely on a very small handful of incredible friends - the ones who will pick up the phone in the middle of the night when I call. I also rely on my faith that the universe is supporting me in every moment of my life - I believe that everything happens for a reason and that there is a bigger plan for me.

Tell us about your tribe and the importance of having one.
I have an incredible tribe of women in my life. Some of them I have never even actually met in real life but they are so important to me! I surround myself with women who I aspire to be like - women who are strong, loving and luminous - they shine their light no matter what! Women who say how they feel and live life like they give a damn! Having these women in my life helps me be the best version of myself - I know that I can count on them to call me out on my BS but also lift me up when I am down - they offer support, guidance, love and friendship and I can't imagine my life without them!

What do you want other women to know who are feeling lost, and/or experiencing their own tragedy and/or struggles?
I would tell them - YOU ARE LOVED. You are unconditionally and completely loved exactly as you are.

What is some advice you would give to women who are healing or rising in some way?
Keep going and tell your story - share it with others, write it down, get it out of you and into the world where it can be released and healed and also where it can inspire other women. The more we open and share our stories the more we give other people permission to do the same.

Rising Woman~ Kellee Wip

It is such an honor to share all of these women with you...

Our next Rising Woman is Kellee Whip. Although I believe I have only met Kellee in person once, she's one of those women I have seen transform and blossom over social media over the past several years. She has courageously shared some of her personal journeys in a way that truly inspires me as well as I'm sure many others. Read on...

Who are you and what do you do for a living?
Hi! My name is Kellee.  Who am I? Such an easy question, yet so difficult isn’t it! I’ve spent a lot of time over the years trying to answer that question. It’s easy to say things like I’m a mom, I’m a wife. I’m a business owner. But that isn’t who I am. Those are part huge parts of my life, but what I’ve realized most lately is that those things aren’t me.  I’m joyful, curious, courageous and determined. I am kind and try to be thoughtful. I am silly and love to make someone laugh. I am open and grateful. I’m messy and sometimes lazy.  I’m active and focused. AND clearly I’m not just one thing. I am committed to helping others and I am committed to growing personally. I am ever changing.
Tell me about your family.
I’m blessed to be the mom of two beautiful children Madelyn 7 and Brayden 10. My husband and I have lived in California for 15 years.
What is your story?
Ever hit a crossroad in your life and realized the world no longer wants to knock on your door, it is kicking the door in? I have! The knocks on the door didn’t wake me up; it took a lot more for me to realize things needed change. I’ve been through this twice now. The first time was six years ago; I was confronted with the clear fact my career needed to change. My kids were young, my daughter had just turned one and my son was that crazy 3-year-old boy.  He had already been kicked out of a preschool. My daughter fought bottle-feeding for the entire first year giving me a year of sleepless nights. And then I was told I was no longer the top performer at my office but my job was in jeopardy. I was working 60+ hour weeks. My kids were a mess and I was worried about answering emails, attending meetings and ensuring my I’s were dotted and my T’s were crossed. Driving to work I would cry knowing this wasn’t how it should be. Driving home knowing I was missing another milestone. I couldn’t keep up this rat race. I couldn’t neglect the biggest job I was ever given to be a mom. I needed to make a change. Partnering with Moms Making Six Figures allowed me the ability to provide financially security my family needed but on my terms and on my time. Now I get to help other women come home to their families.
What have you overcome to get where you are today?
I’ve learned that life happens for us. Every experience, every challenge, every opportunity gives us a gift and we get to chose how we handle those gifts. Fear is in my mind, we all have it, but we chose how long we let it control us. Those who are successful have fear, they just don’t let it fester and build. My challenges aren’t harder, or more complex than anyone else’s. They are just mine. They are there for me to grow. They are there to push me to my next level.
What has been your greatest struggle in life?
Learning PATIENCE! Learning that I can’t control everything. Learning to allow life to guide me. I like to take the “bull by the horns” so to speak. So learning that sometimes the best things in life happen on life’s terms, not mine.
Did you ever feel like giving up? When you felt like giving up, what did you do?
Building a business especially one that requires me to work with others can be challenging. I can’t control everything, so YES, I have had moments where I questioned if I was really cut out for the job. Making a decision to do something requires more than just the thought and a goal. I’ve learned to really know WHY I am going after it. Having clarity on why I was building my business helps me when I feel that frustration. I sit back and remind myself that I can go get another job but than I lose the freedom and financial security I know are so important to my family. Clarity is huge. I’ve also found that having a “Tribe” a group of people I can count on to call me out when I’m just complaining, support me when I need lifting and laugh with me when I just need to release it. Find your tribe and keep them close!
What are some of the tools and resources you have used to work through and overcome those struggles? (books, counselors, workshops, programs, coaches, etc.)
OH BOY! This list is could be ridiculously long! Luckily I have some amazing mentors with Moms Making Six Figures. In addition, some of my favorites:
Books:
The Power of Habit – Charles Duhigg
Leaders Eat Last – Simon Sinek
Start with Why – Simon Sinek
The War of Art – Steven Pressfield
The Champion Mind – Jim Afremow
Love Warrior – Glennon Melton
Workshops:
Tony Robbins – Unleashing the Power Within
Ken Blanchard – Situational Leadership
University of San Diego – Masters in Executive Leadership
Coaches:
Laura Burkey Coaching
Abraham Hicks
Tony Robbins
What are your gifts and how did you discover them?
I think we find our gifts when we stop worrying about all the stuff we stink at! My gifts…finding the positive in every situation, laughing, finding ways to relate to almost everyone, singing (oh wait, never mind that isn’t a gift)!
Who in life do you rely on when you're struggling? Who keeps you uplifted and on your path?
I am blessed to have an amazing tribe. Friends and family that all play unique roles in my life. Not one person is my go-to. Everyone has different experiences and backgrounds that provide me insight, perspective and guidance.
Tell us about your tribe and the importance of having one.
YES YES YES! Tribes are key. I found it a funny word at first, tribe. But having a group of people for me primarily women but I do have a few guys that I count on too are absolutely critical. We have all heard the phrase it takes a village. Well, the new village looks different. We don’t all live next to each other but the power of a group of people is essential in life. My tribe is comprised of mostly women my age but many older and some younger. Many of us spend a lot of time together, but not everyone in my tribe are friends. It isn’t a clique it’s MY support network. It’s MY circle of trust. I found them over time. Some have come and gone, but most have stayed true. I’ve learned that if they need to leave the tribe, it’s ok. Our time was valuable for the time we had.
What do you want other women to know who are feeling lost, and/or experiencing their own tragedy and/or struggles?
You are right where you are supposed to be. If you are sad, lost, hurting, confused. Don’t beat yourself up. Take in that emotion fully and allow yourself to grow through all of it. Yet recognize when you have experienced that emotion and when it’s time to move on. If you feel stuck, the best thing you can do is MOVE! I mean literally, move your body. Physical exercise, change of scenery is the best thing we can do to get our mental mind set on track. If you don’t have a tribe, realize that the tribe starts with you. Get out and meet someone new, ask for help. Trust that your life is going to change. Where you are right now won’t last.  Last but not least, have courage. 20 seconds of insane courage can go a REALLY long way. Just trust your gut and go all in. Avoid the half in and half out just go for it.
What is some advice you would give to women who are healing?
You are beautiful. Right now, you may not feel it. You may not believe it. You may question EVERYTHING. And guess what, that’s ok! You’re learning in that process. You are growing. Healing is painful. But you are NOT alone. As much as our problems and past can feel so unique and haunting, there are so many others who have walked in similar shoes. Allow this beautiful world to help you heal. Seek out the resources and love that is available to you. Time isn’t the only thing that heals. It’s allowing the world to give you the love you need.
Anything else you'd like to add?

Be you! This world has enough other people in this world. Only thing you should ever compare is effort. XOXO

Rising Woman~ De'Anna Nunez

Our first Rising Woman is a dear friend of mine, De'Anna Nunez. I met De'Anna about 5-6 years ago through our blogs that we were both running at the time on Facebook. We eventually learned that we were both in San Diego and decided to connect in person. Over the years I have been continually inspired by the teachings that De'Anna brings to women through her writing and her programs. As a friend, she has inspired me to stand in my own power, to share my own story and to embrace all that I have been through in my own life as part of what makes me who I am today. I love the way De'Anna is a living example of her teachings and that she beautifully embraces the imperfections of living a healthy life. I am just honored that she has agreed to share her story with us here.

Follow Your Feet, Your Purpose Will Be Revealed
HI, my name is De’Anna Jo Nunez. I am a Speaker, Hypnotist and Trainer that focuses on developing a Healthy Mindset cycle. My clients often think of me as a mind-set strategist. I help them figure out why they do what they do. This is true, but even more importantly, I design practicum’s that lead them to what they really want.  I am my work. It is a pure, truthful, beautiful and even imperfect reflection of who I am and what inspires me.
I started my career when Hypnosis found me as a twenty-four-year-old, single mom. I was lost and looking for the best way to bring up my kid, as well as create some sort of fun life for us. A bit of a hot mess, I was in need for an intervention before any of that could happen. My son was the first pivot point of my change, Hypnosis was the second. I believe God sprinkled in my path, the unconditional love that I needed to start my healing.
Raised by a single Mom, forever bitter by her divorce, I grew up with a strong sense of anger in my daily environment. My Dad was attentive and loving, but only every other weekend. The gaps that weren’t being filled felt like the Grand Canyon. Like vast spaces of loneliness, I learned early on that love came with conditions. I could often just fall into the abyss of worthlessness. The only way for me to navigate those deep dark crevices was to armor up.

Follow Your Feet, Your Spirit Has Got Your Back
I am an expressive type person. The problem is, unlike a beautiful Beyonce video, what I had to express was not sexy. My childhood was an odd concoction of growing pains, fun and misunderstood anger, mirrored back to me by an overly critical mother. Meanwhile, Dad was raising another family and I often felt confused and restless. Psychology names our upbringing as the formative or formidable years. It’s formidable if you’ve attached some type of negative emotion or fear to it, formative if it helped you become better. Well I took the low road.

Between the age of thirteen and eighteen, I ran away repeatedly, shoplifted, stole family member’s cars, drank to get drunk, smoked crack, was the victim of rape, and dropped out of school. I’m sure I’ve left a few things out, and rightly so, because telling you this is not for the purpose of hype or poor-me’s, but to convey to you that I know the depths of despair, anguish and self sabotage.

Learning the importance of unconditional love became a saving grace and it came through to me from my best friend Erin. She was what seemed to me, the main person in my life, other than my dog Sarge, that loved me no matter what. Now here’s the thing, I didn’t know love without conditions, so the reciprocal love I would show Erin came laced with negative expression too. On one day I would accept her love with open arms. Lord knows I needed it! The next I would put on my armor, hide my vulnerability and abuse her by shunning her.  My behavior was often undeserving of her loyalty, yet she gave freely to me and never put conditions on her love. That was such an important lesson for me to learn.

I have felt like giving up. I have also felt extremely powerless, even hopeless. The biggest thing I’ve done to overcome that feeling is to stop giving it power, and instead, seek out the special glimmer of universal love that seems to always exist. The thing that Erin saw in me. Love comes in many forms- nature, people, God, spirit, creativity. I know sometimes its hard to see yourself with compassion. It’s like trying to see water when you’re in it. You just can’t! The secret is to swim anyway knowing and trusting it’s there. In doing just that, my prisons turned to pathways. There have been some ridiculously cool, high points of my life. I’ve performed Hypnosis for Governors and Five Star Generals overseas and in front of audiences of 10,000. I’ve run 75 consecutive miles in the dark at elevation, have raised a successful kid, extensively educated myself, married the love of my life and even facilitated the most amazing moments for my clients that completely changed them. Wow! Just goes to show you what’s possible when you are willing to do whatever it takes.

Follow Your Feet and Never Stop Practicing
To get where I am today, it’s been a practice of overcoming self judgement and feeling fear but not letting it stop me. Hands down, the greatest struggle I’ve had is feeling unworthy. So now, I am open to love finding me through all expressions- friendships, clients, romance, nature, money, food and God. To breakthrough it has been a matter of staying focused, just wanting to be healthy in all aspects is a huge driver for me. Looking at myself and valuing that the practice never ends, like a karate master practices his art, it beckons me to continually offer up forgiveness, empathy, patience and love. Especially to myself.

I think its very important that we have healthy practices in our lives that assist us in staying balanced and peaceful. For me, that is running, hiking and on a really good day, doing that with my family. I’d love for you to recognize that your body is housing your emotions. Think about that as if it were literal. That means, you must take responsibility to manage the upkeep of your house by cleaning and organizing it regularly. When we exercise, there is an intense process that is emotional, spiritual and physiological. An actual shift occurs in our hormones and therefore our attitude. In no way do I want to rob myself of that opportunity as it is a source of my renewal time.

I feel strongly that all women need to have some type of fitness routine that fills up their soul. If you are only exercising because you have to, or because your Doctor recommended it, you are missing a huge piece of goodness. It’s like seeing a rainbow and not the beautiful sky. Nutrition is the same way. It’s an opportunity to give your body vitality every time you eat. Sure, ice cream tastes really good, so does guacamole and chips. I’m not saying I don’t eat that, but eighty percent of my focus goes toward living my healthiest life. It wasn’t until I started meeting my internal needs that I could eat food without abusing it.

Follow Your Feet, Arrive at a New You
What I want women to know from reading my story is that the struggle moves through you faster and easier when you surrender to its lesson. We so often resist, fight and defend ourselves. We create huge obstructions and draw out the length of our suffering. It’s unnecessary. Let go of the need to suffer unnecessarily. If you are refusing to let go, well, that is where you want to start first. What is trying to heal itself that you are resisting? What is it that you need from others, that you are not giving to yourself?

Struggles can either teach us to be strong or teach us to hide and shrink ourselves. We waste so much of our lives just shrinking and growing, growing and shrinking. I feel like when we take responsibility for our responses and realize that our response is often the only thing we actually have control of, everything changes. We can really just always be growing. We never have to shrink again.
